London-based riser Leiyah has unveiled her new pop anthem ‘I SEE LIGHT’.
The songwriter comes from a musical family, and this has aways served to give Leiyah her grounding. The singer’s late uncle Earl Lindo of The Wailers having started her on the path of songwriting and she’s never looked back, later attending the BRIT School.
Leiyah’s 2019 debut album was a real statement, and since then she’s strengthened and broadened her sound. Last year’s ‘NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY’ felt like a real moment for her, a breakout slice of pop bedlam with a heart of gold.
Out now, new song ‘I SEE LIGHT’ flips between gospel touches and alt-pop, with the climactic finish touching on DnB frenzy and indie finesse.
Leiyah comments…
Me and Will wrote this song based on my own deep and heartfelt struggle for clarity and purpose in a world full of distractions and societal expectations. In this process, I find myself seeking divine guidance, looking to God for direction amidst the uncertainty.
This spiritual pursuit adds a layer of hope, suggesting that faith can illuminate my path forward, providing comfort and wisdom in times of confusion. The combination of my inner resilience and spiritual seeking creates a rich tapestry of my experience, illustrating a journey that is as much about personal fortitude as it is about trusting in a higher purpose.
Johnny Douglas played a pivotal role in bringing this track to life with his exceptional production skills. Collaborating with icons such as George Michael, Kylie Minogue, and Tina Turner, he infused the song with a unique blend of energy and emotion that resonates deeply with listeners.
