Kendrick Lamar made Grammy history overnight – with ‘Not Like Us’ scooping five key categories.
The rapper is no stranger to Grammy glory, but this year’s ceremony felt different. Cresting a wave of adulation after his war against Drake, Kendrick arrived at the glitzy event as hot favourite in a number of categories.
As it turned out, he had every right to feel confident – his seismic single ‘Not Like Us’ won five awards, the most for a rap single in history.
Kendrick won Record Of The Year, Best Rap Song, Best Music Video, Song Of The Year, and Best Rap Performance – some of the biggest honourst the American music industry can bestow.

It was a lavish ceremony, too – Kendrick dedicated his Record Of The Year win “to my city”, accepting the trophy from Diana Ross. Resplendent in a Dolce & Gabbana dress, the Motown queen saluted those affected by the ongoing wild fires: “May this moment remind us all of the power we hold,” she told the assembled crowd.
Drake is currently in Australia.
