Kanye West has thrown his support behind frenemy Drake in his high-profile legal battle with Universal Music Group.
West, who has spent much of the last decade feuding with his former collaborator, declared on Thursday (April 17) that he is firmly in the 6 God’s corner in his dispute with the music giant, calling his yet-to-be-decided defamation lawsuit a “victory” for artists everywhere.

“Yo, I’m so happy right now, you don’t understand. With this UMG, Drake, Kendrick situation, Super Bowl, Grammys — this shit was driving me and you know where it should be driving me, but this is the biggest victory in music history right here,” he said in a video posted on X.
Ye then vowed to end his on-again, off-again beef with the Canadian superstar, saying: “I’m never finna call Drake out of his name. I’m team Drake, 100%. And team Kendrick and Team all of us! Kendrick needs to be going at UMG at this point.

“This is what I said in my version of ‘Like That,'” he added, referencing his remix of Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick’s hit song. “I said, ‘Lucian [Grainge, UMG CEO], your lifetime deal.’ Like, let’s stop aiming all this at each other. Bro, you have no idea.”
The Chicago native concluded by saying: “Everything is worth everything for a moment like this, where we stop going at each other and we go at the slave masters.”
He also posted a link to Drake’s recently amended lawsuit and wrote: “I have to show Drake love for going at the machine. This is a very important moment in music history. For some reason I felt like I was on Drakes side concerning this situation. Now here’s over 100 pages to show why.”

Despite his public support of Drake, Kanye West just recently dissed the 6 God on a song from his upcoming album WW3.
In a livestream with producer Digital Nas, Ye previewed material from his upcoming project, including a track called “Heil Hitler.”

Among the song’s many controversial lyrics, Ye raps: “N-ggas be acting like f-ggots, I think they might be Drake.”
The song also features a refrain of “Heil Hitler” and other inflammatory lines such as: “All my n-ggas Nazis, Heil Hitler,” and “They don’t understand the things I say on Twitter.”

Prior to his jab on “Heil Hitler,” however, the G.O.O.D. Music founder had been acting friendlier towards Drake, saying on social media: “I saw a video of Drake walking through his house and showing he had a library of rhyme books. Man I wish I could have seen and remembered this when my jealousy overtook me.
“I love Drake. I’ma say this when I die I need you to speak at [my] funeral.”
