Jon and Li Waterman, who perform as a duo called Sultana, will appear later this month at the main branch of the Framingham Public Library for an event called „A Journey through the Roots of American Popular Music,“ according to a community announcement.
The program takes place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, in the library’s Costin Room on Lexington Street. It will feature original songs and historical insights into the origins of blues, country and rock music, according to the announcement. The Watermans will also address the darker aspects of American music and its role in shaping cultural identity.
Jon Waterman, a songwriter and musician, has presented similar programs throughout New England as part of the „Live Music Making History Live“ series, which aims to celebrate history through music.
The event is partially funded by a grant from the Framingham Cultural Council, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
