Jacqui has dropped her latest single ‘fries, bb’, via Beeline Records.
Drawing from her early discoveries in neo-soul, the riser defines her production and songwriting over a super-smooth, quirky listen. A fusion of grooves and glitches, ‘fries,bb’ embraces Jacqui’s playful approach to her craft, elevating her vocal performance into a psychedelic realm.
Since making a debut with 2022’s ‘Birthday’ EP, Jacqui has continued to establish her vibrant style amongst new crowds. Born in South Korea but raised in China, the artist has soaked in the influence of the world around her, now spending much of her time in the United States. A transient force who is lead by creative intrigue, alongside a life-long adoration for Erykah Badu, the last few years have seen her launch a tour across Australia, play at SXSW and Thailand’s Bangkok Music City.
The current day sees the artist gears up towards a string of performances across The Great Escape, offering a sneap-peek into her next chapter with her latest release. Speaking on the track’s lyrics, Jacqui expands: “‘fries, bb’ takes place in a late-night burger shop, ordering things when I am not even hungry, just because I want to spend more time with this person next to me.” She continues, “I focused on creating a straight-forward and aggressive (in a cute way!) sound that penetrates the whole song which matches with the message I am carrying in this song.”
