Irish Songwriter Katie Phelan Announces Debut EP ‘Blues And Greens’ – clashmusic.com

Katie Phelan has confirmed for her debut EP ‘Blues And Greens’.
The songwriter spent her youth in rural Ireland, raised in Stamullen, Co. Meath. Perhaps this explains the bucolic feel of her music, with Katie having absorbed the sounds of the Irish coastline into her DNA.
Indie-folk done differently, incoming EP ‘Blues And Greens’ is billed as an introductory statement, and it follows sessions alongside producer Pete Robertson (founding member of The Vaccines, and producer to Beabadoobee, Orla Gartland, Clairo).
Out on June 11th via tastemaker imprint 7476, the release is spearheaded by a gorgeous new single, with ‘Nothing Stays The Same’ on streaming now.
Coupled to a cute video, the song revels in home comforts – melodic and astute, she’s joined by her brother Peter on piano.
“I wrote it in my childhood bedroom on the floor, where I have written a lot of my songs, in anticipation of moving away from home for the first time. It is about missing the little mundane things (like the sounds of family pottering around the house) and these simple things being more important than you realised.”
Tune in now.
