Spotify has announced that its innovative AI-powered DJ feature is now accepting music requests in English, offering Premium subscribers in over 60 markets a dynamic new way to personalise their listening experience in real-time.
Responding to user demand for greater interaction and control over their music sessions, Spotify’s DJ will now allow listeners to tailor their curated mixes using simple voice commands. Whether users are seeking a specific artist, genre, mood, or the ideal soundtrack for a particular activity, the power to influence their listening session is now in their voice.
To access the feature, Premium users can navigate to the search tab within the Spotify app and search for ‘DJ’. Upon pressing play, the DJ will present a personalised blend of music accompanied by insightful commentary. To switch up the vibe or make a request, users simply need to press and hold the DJ button located in the right-hand corner of the screen. A beep will indicate when the DJ is ready to receive a voice command.
Users can then verbally request the kind of music they desire at that moment, with examples provided by Spotify including: “Play me some electronic beats for a midday run,” “Surprise me with some indie tracks I’ve never heard before,” “Play me some music to soundtrack my life as a movie,” and “Play modern country songs for my cowboy era.”
For those seeking a change of pace without a specific request in mind, a quick tap of the DJ button will skip to the next section of the curated mix.
