Actor and musician Hailee Steinfeld reveals that she will be singing on new movie Sinners. This came after disclosing that she is “missing the music world” in a recent interview.
The American actor, who showed off her vocal talents a decade ago in Pitch Perfect 2 and sang on the soundtrack for the Transformers movie Bumblebee, recently reminisced about her music career.
“I had taken a bit of a break from music, which was a very difficult decision to make, but I wanted to focus on my acting and was happy to be doing that,” Steinfeld said with Collider.
She continued: “It goes without saying, but…music is a love of mine and a huge passion and something that has played a very strong role in my life in more ways than one, and having had the opportunity to make music through the years of my own is something I will never take for granted.”
Steinfeld has almost nine million monthly listeners on Spotify and has over a billion listens on her song ‘Starving’. As well as this impressive record, Steinfeld began her acting career with an Oscar nomination at age 14 for True Grit. However, she will be making a return to music in her upcoming movie, Sinners.
The soundtrack to Sinners will include a track sung by Steinfeld called ‘Dangerous’. “I felt so, so lucky to be a part of a movie like Sinners where music is such a huge part of it,” she gushed. “This is the dream — for me to be acting in a film that is so driven and moved by music.
Sinners, set for UK release on April 18th, tells the story of twin brothers attempting to leave their troubled past behind them. They return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that a greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. The film also stars Michael B Jordan, and is directed by Ryan Coogler of Black Panther and Creed.
