Flume and JPEGMAFIA Share Seven-Minute Music Video for ‘Track 1’ – thenote.com.au

‘Track 1’ marks the third collaboration between Flume and JPEGMAFIA.

Collaborating for the first time since 2019, Australian electronic producer Flume and American rapper JPEGMAFIA have released the genre-bending ‘Track 1’.
Coming together in 2019 for ‘How To Build a Relationship’ from Flume’s 2019 mixtape, Hi This Is Flume, the duo have also worked on ‘New Black History’, a track taken from JPEGMAFIA’s 2024 album, I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU.
The most interesting thing about the duo’s latest song is the music video created by James Blagden (The Champions, Dock Ellis & The LSD No-No, Midnight in Paris). The nearly seven-minute-long clip illustrates the studio session that sparked the idea for ‘Track 1’.
Cartoon versions of Flume and JPEGMAFIA get to work crafting the beat, with each new section of music produced by Flume resulting in JPEGMAFIA transforming into everything from a fly to an evil clown before the two journey through time and space with their shirts off.
‘Track 1’ is Flume’s first release since 2023, following back-to-back mixtapes Things Don’t Always Go The Way You Plan and Arrived Anxious, Left Bored, and JPEGMAFIA’s third release of 2025 after singles ‘PROTECT THE CROSS’ and ‘Valentine’s Day Freestyle ‘25’.

It’s all been fairly quiet in the world of Flume, with the Sydney producer and DJ admitting to recording a lot of material but not releasing it, according to Rolling Stone. The only songs he’s contributed to since the release of dual mixtapes, Things Don’t Always Go The Way You Planned and Arrived Anxious, Left Bored, are KUČKA’s “One More Night” and SA’s own Tkay Maidza’s ‘Silent Assassin’.
JPEGMAFIA, on the other hand, has been super active in recent years, sharing the collaborative album, SCARING THE HOES, with Danny Brown in 2023, and following this up with his fifth studio album, 2025’s I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU.
