The show opens with a music performance that combines traditional elements from Swiss instruments, yodeling and culture with contemporary dance to finally mixed with 2024 Eurovision winning song The Code.
Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer are hosting the Semifinals. Michelle Hunziker will join them on the night of the Grand Final. The hosts reminds us that Sandra Studer represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1991.
The contest starts with the Icelandic duo, bringing a fresh youthful attitude to the eurovision stage. With graphics from the famous video game minecraft and a traditional Icelandic sound at the end of their singing, they aim to get one of the tickets leading to the final on Saturday. Will the kids make it?
A STUNNING performance by Justyna lifting the arena on their! The physical abilities required to do this performance are immense, and Justyna does it without struggling. Poland hopes to fly with its dragon in Saturday’s final
Perhaps the most emotional ballad of this year, with a very important message for the artist himself. Vocally Klemen is fantastic, managing to convey the emotion, especially with the part when his wife joins him on stage! A great performance from Slovenia.
One of the favorite songs of the public this year is coming to the stage. Estonia and tommy cash bring us a special italian breeze offering an espresso machiatto to all. Visuals with coffee grounds and Tommy Cash flowing around, while the “invasion” keeps you on the edge of your seat. Tbh, the whole Estonian stage presence is very clever!

Spain for another year brings a Latin – Andalusian rhythm to the competition. Melody enters the first chorus chaingin her dress and plays very cleverly with the cameras. Her vocals are amazing and she puts out a very powerful song that gets the audience going. Is Spain the most underrated song of the big 5?
Ukraine brings us a 70s back this year. Ukraine is going straight to the Finals again.
One of the favorites – once more – on the stage of the competition. The staging is elevated from KAJ’s Melodifestivalen performance that really touches perfection, with Sweden claiming its 8th win in the competition. Will sauna reach the top this year?
Α classic Portuguese entry. A heartfelt performance, but we don’t know if it’s enough to continue Portugal’s qualification streak. Will the audience vibe with the feelings of NAPA?
Kyle gives his all to this piece, whose inspiration came from his mother. With minor vocal instabilities, he is undoubtedly one of the best performers of this season.
One of the most modern stage shows on the competition stage. The whole three-minute performance is a pleasure to watch, with the use of light and visual effects and the mirror-effect choreography. Red Sebastian had his best vocal performance of all the rehearsals and shows so far.
Lucio is a poet, and we are really happy that his lyrics can now be understood by the European audience thanks to the subtitles included. “Volevo Essere Un Duro” is a feeling, and seeing someone representing it in the most authentic way gives you a sense of pride. Lucio’s performance brings us back to the atmosphere of rock acts from the 80s such as David Bowie. I am not sure about how the public will react to it, but I think that it will gain respect from the jurors.

Trivia time! The hosts talk about some of the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest regarding props, and the prohibition of children and animal onstage. They share memorabilia with the audience. A recap of previous Eurovision songs Skeletons (Azerbaijan 2017), Occidentali’s Karma (Italy 2017), Give That Wolf A Banana (Norway 2022), Stripper (San Marino 2022), Tick Tock (Ukraine 2014), Under the Latter (Ukraine 2017), Truth (Azerbaijan 2019), No Rules! (Finland 2024), Zero Gravity (Australia 2019), Tattoo (Sweden 2023) that include these elements followed.
An uplifting performance by Azerbaijan with led lights, fires and a funky sound. The betting has the country of the Caucasus out of the grand final and we wait to see if it will be confirmed.
They say that Italy has three representatives this year: Lucio Corsi, Tommy Cash and Gabry Ponte. I think that the most representative one has to be the renowned Gabry Ponte with his success story “Tutta l’Italia”. An infectious beat and probably the best performance possible for that type of song. This year Gabry is a worthy contender for qualification for the final, and hi have the common ground with him, maybe he’ll make it through.
Albania is here to claim one of their best results in history, and we can all agree that if they succeed, it will be all thanks to Beatrice. Without a doubt, Beatrice is one of the most confident performers this year. Her energy is unmatched, as well as her passion. The stage fills with red and white colours.
Claude keeps contact with the camera throughout the performance, and he sings directly to the audience. A very good performance and a clever use of the camera shots. Theatrical, musical and heartfelt.
Marko tried his best for that show, and it’s obvious. Colors, the “Lego” lights, TV effects, and quick camera changes. But it feels like too much. Imagine the Polish performances in 2022 and 2023 combined. Qualifying for the Grand Final will be hard for Croatia this year.
Α sweet, cinematic performance by Zoë. She looks like she has just come out of a Renaissance painting, while the performance is cinematic. It will impress the juries, and we can say that Switzerland might be one of the dark horses of 2025.
The most captivating performances of the night were kept for the end. Cyprus is not joking this year and brings a breathtaking performance. Scaffolds, dancers, vocals and looks are all on point. Given the spot where Cyprus performs, it can land easily in the top three of the night.
A recap of all the entries follows.
The hostesses are taking the lead of the interval acts, with a humorous sketch that shows the world what the Swiss have invented. The sketch finishes with the somewhat different thing that the Swiss invented, which is none other than the Eurovision Song Contest. Big surprise. It is Petra Mede making a cameo as William Tell!
We have Celine Dion!! Unfortunately, not live, but with a video dedicated to all Eurovision fans. Celine Dion then gives the lead, and the “Class of 2024” takes the stage. Marina Satti, Jerry Heil, Iolanda and Silvester Belt join forces for a very special rendition of “Ne partez pas sans moi”. One of the best moments of the night.
The hosts did a final round of chatting and sharing memorabilia with the participants and a recap of the contestants participating in the Second Semifinal.
This year, we have a big change in how the qualifiers are announced. For the first nine qualifiers, the broadcast will show three countries on a split-screen, with one of them revealed as the next finalist. The tenth and final qualifier will be announced live by the hosts.
Martin Österdahl, executive supervisor of Eurovision Song Contest 2025, certifies that he is happy to see that we now have a valid result!
The ten countries that (virtually) qualified for the finals for rehearsal purposes only were the following (In bold, the countries that virtually qualified):
