Cyprus was the final country from the first semi-final to take the stage at St. Jakobshalle for its second rehearsal. Representing the island nation is Theo Evan, who will close the show with his entry, “Shh.” Following a remarkable surge in the betting odds, anticipation for the Cypriot performance is at an all-time high.
Forget everything you expect from a typical stage show — this performance is built around motion, illusion, and raw physicality. At the center are two mobile scaffolding towers, which aren’t just background pieces but integral components of the act. Rather than remaining fixed, these structures are constantly repositioned, transforming the space and redefining the dancers’ interaction with the stage in real time.
Theo Evan doesn’t enter with stillness or subtlety — the routine opens instantly with him and two dancers locking into the instantly recognisable outline of a mysterious figure from the lyrics. It’s a bold visual that sets the tone. From there, the performance becomes a high-octane display of strength, precision, and agility, almost like a choreographed urban workout set to music.
Lighting is more than a mood-setter — it’s a narrative tool. The performance begins in monochrome, shifts into intense red-and-black shades midway through, then returns to its original stark palette, echoing the emotional journey of the track. Just before the final explosive moment, time seems to pause. The stage stills, Theo exhales, and through a brilliant camera illusion, he appears to dissolve — a fleeting, cinematic moment that leaves a lasting impact.
Costuming remains sleek and uniform: all-black trousers and vests that let the movement and lighting do the talking. As for the identity of the silhouetted figure? That’s a secret the stage won’t give up just yet.
Official recap footage from the rehearsal will be released later today on the Eurovision YouTube channel.
Looking ahead, the Dress Rehearsal for Cyprus and the rest of the Semi-Final 1 participants is set for Monday, 12 May.
