May 19, 2025 – The Mariposa County Arts Council’s Music on the Green concert series continues with another dynamic weekend of live music under the stars in historic downtown Mariposa.
On Friday, June 13, JNX returns to the Art Park for Music on the Green. JNX is a Mariposa-based heavy metal band — and a family band! The group features brothers Jonah (guitar) and Xavier (drums), along with their dad, Roger Dacanay, on bass. Come on out and see JNX shred some distortion and carry on the legacy of the 1970s and ’80s “hair bands!”

Student Artist Spotlight: Elizabeth Encoyard
The original artwork (seen above) for the 2025 Music on the Green season was created by Elizabeth Encoyard, a student artist from Mariposa County High School. Elizabeth’s vivid digital illustration captures the unique beauty of our local landscape and community, offering a visual counterpart to the diversity and vibrancy of this year’s musical performances.
This annual Student Artist Initiative offers youth a special opportunity to create public-facing art while receiving mentorship from Arts Council staff. Each year, one student’s work is featured on all Music on the Green marketing materials and shared across the Arts Council’s broad digital platforms, helping build real-world experience and entrepreneurial skills for local young artists.
