Meta has added Doja Cat to its lineup of “fantastical avatars” available for people to buy and use in its Horizon virtual world.
She’s the first music artist for this feature, with the launch of her avatar coinciding with a re-broadcast of her ‘The Scarlet Tour’ VR concert within Horizon. The avatar is a paid product, with four Doja Cat t-shirts also available in Horizon’s store.
The launch came alongside some less positive news for Meta’s music-x-metaverse activities however. The company has laid off a number of employees in its Reality Labs division this week, with the cuts including staff at Supernatural, its music-driven VR fitness app.

A Facebook post by Supernatural confirmed the news, and said that one impact will be “a reduction in workout releases each week” within the app.
