California Medical Facility Hosts Music and Rehabilitation Festival – California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (.gov)

News Releases
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: California Medical Facility (CMF) in Vacaville, hosted Prison Palooza 3.0, a unique event that brings together CDCR staff, community members, and the incarcerated population for a day of connection, music, and celebration.
This year’s event continues the legacy of promoting unity, inclusion, and rehabilitation, all within a positive and engaging atmosphere. Prison Palooza 3.0 highlights CDCR’s commitment to the CA Model, which focuses on improving prison conditions for incarcerated individuals and staff, fostering rehabilitation, easing reentry into society, and improving public safety.
By bridging the gap between staff and the incarcerated population, the event promotes the CA Model foundational pillars of “Dynamic Security” and “Normalization” – key components of reducing recidivism and enhancing public safety.
WHAT THE WARDEN IS SAYING: “We have continued to see more involvement and partnerships through Prison Palooza the last three years, and the event just gets bigger and better,” said CMF Warden, Daniel E. Cueva, “It’s important for us, as a team, to build a community. I’ve been at CMF for 27 years and one thing we have missed in the past is that sense of community and we are able to achieve that through this event. Prison Palooza 3.0 shows that we all love music and games and whether you are an incarcerated person or a staff member, we can all come together and build commonality.”

IN CONCLUSION:  This event highlighted the positive impact of connection and understanding, reinforcing our commitment to rehabilitation, and creating a safer, more inclusive environment for all.
