Scottish band Brògeal have shared their new single ‘Friday On My Mind’.
The band shared their debut EP last year, melting together Celtic folk aspects with some barbed indie songcraft. Hitting the road, Brògeal became cult sensations, with their gigs becoming key flashpoints for their growing army of fans.
Signed to Play It Again Sam, Brògeal are ready to take a step forwards. The band will play The Great Escape this May, in amongst a huge range of UK and European shows.
New single ‘Friday On My Mind’ is out now, an ode to escapism driven forwards by Daniel Harkins’ rousing vocal. The five-piece connect perfectly, the pointed impact lifting the Falkirk band to a higher level.
A ready-made anthem for those feverish live shows, Brògeal comment…
It is a celebration of falling in love and living through the honeymoon period of a romantic relationship. Its a summer anthem we hope will turn any beer garden or spot in the park into a euphoric singalong that will make an entire party dance and smile.
The lyrics are specific to myself being away from a new relationship while recording the album and ‘counting down the days’ til we meet again, the verses are playful and romantic whereas the chorus is tinged with melancholy and self doubts, like many of my songs are, about perhaps going headfirst into things too quickly and the hope that the flame will still be alive once we meet again.
Tune in now.
