Adolescence star Owen Cooper to star in major UK musician's music video months after Netflix success – Manchester Evening News

Adolescence star Owen Cooper is set to star in a major UK musician’s music video just months after the Netflix series’ success.
Released on the streaming platform back in February, the miniseries followed Liverpool actor Stephen Graham as a father whose teenage son is accused of murdering a schoolmate.
‌With each of the four episodes shot in one take, Adolescence received 24.3 million views around the world in the first four days of its release.
Being viewed by 66.3 million people after two weeks, Adolescence was praised for generating important conversations and is being made available to all UK secondary schools.
A large part of the series’ success was Owen’s performance, who in his screen debut made troubled teenager Jamie an engrossing character.
Already confirmed to be appearing alongside Margot Robbie in Emerald Fennell’s adaption of Wuthering Heights, Owen’s next career move has been announced.
Joining forces with Sam Fender, Owen will be starring in the music video for the Newcastle singer’s song Little Bit Closer.
The song was released in February as part of Sam’s album People Watching, which shot to number one in the UK charts.
On Saturday (May 3), Sam took to Instagram to tease the video, sharing pictures of Owen in a blanket staring out over a scenic lake.
Captioning the post, Sam wrote: “I get a little bit closer.”
The comments section of the post saw Sam's loyal fans immediately figuring out that the photo was of Owen, who was not tagged in the post.
@samfenderupdts said: “OWEN COOPER LET GOOOOOOOO.” @lewisg04x added: “Is this the kiddy from Adolescence?!”
@riripatel_xo wrote: “If that’s Owen, then you just need Erin Doherty in a vid now to complete the set.” @joeausttin stated: “Oh I will be crying.”
@alaciajane commented: “IS THAT OWEN COOPER OR AM I MENTAL.” @ ellenjoseph posted: “One of my absolute favorite songs on the album!!”
