The music industry record books will need a separate chapter for Adele after her third studio album 25 sold a massive 800,307 units in its first week on sale in the U.K.
Needless to say, 25 grabbed the number one slot in the singer’s home market, but the album’s sales not only overtook the 696,000 sold by Oasis for their 1997 album Be Here Now, but added over 100,000 extra sales to set a mark that will likely last for a long time.

The U.K.’s Official Charts Company said that 25 had outsold the rest of the top 75 records combined this week and the British Phonographic Industry had already certified the record as 2x Platinum. Adele also grabbed the record for the most downloaded No. 1 album ever with a total 252,423 digital sales this week.
