APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) -Local DJ Mark Lewis had one too many springs with bothersome lake flies, so he and a friend decided to put their talents to use and vent some frustration.
“They were buzzing around and getting in everything, and we had written a few songs in the past and we just decided, I think it’s time to address this lake fly issue,” Lewis said.
Lewis says since his song has become somewhat of a hit locally, he feels a bit indebted to his insect inspirations. But that didn’t stop him from trying to make a profit off the pests.
He thought we would start a dance craze.
“We wrote the Lake Fly Shuffle,, which didn’t turn out to be much of a hit,” said Lewis.
Lewis realizes his lake fly song is really only popular once a year, so now he’s considering singing about another pesky topic.
“We are moving into the mosquito season, so it’s definitely something to think about,” according to Lewis.
