20 New Songs Out Today – BrooklynVegan

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
PINKSHIFT – “EVIL EYE”
Baltimore punks Pinkshift embrace their heavy, riffy side on “Evil Eye.”

LANA DEL REY – “BLUEBIRD”
We’re still waiting for more details about Lana Del Rey’s new country album — which is no longer called The Right Person Will Stay — but in the mean time she’s shared “Bluebird,” a hushed, pretty ballad.

JID – “WRK”
Atlanta rapper JID is back with his first new solo single since his 2022 album The Forever Story.

MATT BERNINGER – “BREAKING INTO ACTING” FT. HAND HABITS

The Whimbrels is a NYC supergroup of sorts with Norman Westberg (Swans), Arad Evans (Glenn Branca), Matt Hunter (New Radiant Storm King), and more. Their self-titled debut album will be out June 27 via Dromedary Records and this is the first single.

JOY OLADOKUN – “NAZARETH”
“For the better part of five years I’ve been on the road,” Joy Oladokun says. “From Hope, Alaska to Gulf Shores. From South Africa to Australia. From arenas to small clubs. I’ve gotten to see the best and the worst of the world and of myself. I started writing this song last year in a dressing room on tour with Hozier and I finished recording it in the back lounge of my tour bus as it raced across the US at the beginning of this year. I think at this moment in our world in culture—where transphobia, queerphobia, xenophobia, racism and classism flow down freely from the highest positions in our power structures—you can feel so many people looking for hope and safety in any place they can find it. I relate to that search deeply. This song is for anyone who is hoping the world is kinder and safer than it can appear to be at times. Releasing it as the world celebrates Easter seemed like the obvious choice.”

SWIZZ BEATZ, PUSHA T & JADAKISS – “DANGER DANGER”
The Godfather of Harlem: Season 4 (Original Series Soundtrack) is out now via Epic Records, along with a video for this collab from Swizz Beatz, Pusha T, and Jadakiss.

The Slow Fire of Sleep is out on May 9 via A Parlous/Island, and the first single is “Lighthouse,” which they say is “about being in a healthy romantic relationship for the first time in my life and the fear of losing that.”
