Cushla Weaves Irish Tradition Into Tech – World Music Central

Following a breakout year, Cushla returns with “7 Years,” a reimagined Celtic folk ballad and the lead single from their debut album Tech Duinn, released April 25 via Foehn Records.
Built around the “broken-token” motif from traditional balladry, “7 Years” combines sean-nós vocals by Nell Ní Chróinín with analog synths, layered electronics, and traditional Irish instrumentation including pipes, fiddles, and drones. The result is a cinematic, genre-blurring track that bridges ancient storytelling with contemporary sound design.

With this release, Cushla continues to explore Ireland’s musical heritage through an experimental, forward-leaning lens.
