Good news of the week: Edible soap, turning masterpieces into music and 25 years of life-changing aid – ITN Business

RNIB and Dolby bring iconic artworks to life for the blind community
In a world-first creative collaboration, Dolby and the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) have launched Sound of a Masterpiece — a groundbreaking project that’s transforming how blind and visually impaired people experience art.
By pairing iconic artworks with immersive, spatial audio compositions, Sound of a Masterpiece reimagines paintings such as da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Monet’s Water-Lily Pond and Munch’s The Scream through music — translating their emotion, texture and depth into sound.
Each piece has been interpreted by award-winning composers to create a rich, multi-sensory journey that allows listeners to hear and feel the spirit of the artwork, offering an entirely new way to connect with visual culture.
It’s an inspiring step forward in accessible design — and a powerful reminder of how creativity and technology can break down barriers to inclusion.

The Sound of a Masterpiece album is available on Apple Music, Amazon Music and Tidal, with all proceeds going to the RNIB.
Tackling hygiene poverty with a powerful (and edible) message
In a bold and thought-provoking campaign, The Hygiene Bank has launched ‘Edible Soap’ — a real, food-based soap designed to raise awareness of the UK’s growing hygiene poverty crisis.
Created in partnership with ethical brand The Good Wash, this innovative bar is made from ingredients like cacao butter and avocado oil — and is technically safe to eat. But the point is stark: for 5.3 million adults in the UK, choosing between food and basic hygiene essentials is a daily reality.
As part of the campaign, people can buy a virtual bar of Edible Soap for £15 via The Good Wash website — with proceeds going to support The Hygiene Bank’s vital work and to campaign for the removal of the 20% VAT on soap.
The campaign challenges us to rethink how we view cleanliness and dignity — and calls on businesses and individuals to step up and support the millions silently struggling with access to essential hygiene products.
It’s a creative, attention-grabbing way to highlight a hidden crisis — and spark change with impact.

25 years of hope: How one volunteer-led charity has delivered over £250M in aid 
Hope and Aid Direct is celebrating a remarkable milestone — 25 years of delivering life-changing support to people affected by conflict and disaster around the world.
From its grassroots beginnings in Essex, the charity has grown into a trusted humanitarian force, run entirely by volunteers. With over £250 million worth of aid distributed and more than 450 truckloads delivered to the people who need it most, their work has made a tangible difference across the globe — from the Balkans and Sri Lanka to the Philippines and Ukraine.
“It’s been an emotional journey filled with challenges, triumphs and invaluable lessons,” says founder Charles Storer MBE. “Our volunteers, supporters and corporate donors are the lifeblood of everything we do — and we couldn’t have achieved this milestone without them.”
But the next 25 years will need even more collaboration. As the global need for aid rises, support from businesses is more important than ever.
Despite corporate profits increasing by 49 per cent over the last decade, charitable giving from FTSE 100 companies has dropped by 34 per cent (Charities Aid Foundation). That presents a huge opportunity for business leaders to step up and be part of something genuinely impactful.
“We urge corporate donors to get involved and ‘donate to divert’ products from landfill as part of their CSR — and help us continue delivering hope to people whose lives have been turned upside down,” says Charles.
