Accra to explode with rhythms as Alliance Francaise celebrates 10th anniversary jazz & world music festival – MyJoyOnline

Alliance Francaise has announced the highly anticipated 10th anniversary of the Societe Generale Ghana Jazz and World Music Festival.
Hosted in collaboration with Societe Generale Ghana, this year’s edition, running from April 23rd to April 26th, 2025, promises an immersive and unforgettable „X-perience“ blending global sounds.
What began as a dedicated celebration of jazz has blossomed into a vibrant tapestry embracing the rich and diverse sounds of other genres. This 10th-anniversary edition signifies this exciting evolution, inviting music lovers to explore a truly global harmony right in the heart of Accra.
„This year is truly special,“ said Mme Helene Geneau-Okutue, Director of Alliance Francaise Accra.
„We’re not just marking a decade of incredible music; we’re offering a multi-sensory journey into the heart of these sounds and their fascinating origins. From live performances to documentaries and virtual reality, this festival is designed to captivate and educate.“
Attendees can look forward to three concert days filled with sensational performances from a stellar array of both international and Ghanaian artists as well as musical workshops for instrumentalists, music lovers, singers etc.
Headlining the anniversary celebration are acclaimed musicians such as the globally renowned bassist and vocalist Alune Wade, known for his seamless blend of African rhythms and jazz harmonies; the powerful and captivating voice of Ghana’s own Wiyaala, whose unique Afro-pop sound has garnered international acclaim; the innovative and genre-bending pianist Thomas Dobler; the incredibly talented Ghanaian jazz maestro Victor Dey Jr.; the energetic band Fra! And many more, promising a vibrant fusion of contemporary and traditional sounds.
Extending this exploration into a new dimension, the „Tukki from Roots to Bayou“ Virtual Reality Photo Exhibition will offer a unique and immersive experience. Using cutting-edge VR technology, attendees will be able to interact with the photo pieces. This innovative exhibition will provide a deeper, more personal connection to the stories and faces behind the music, offering a truly unforgettable perspective on the album’s creation and the cultural heritage it celebrates.
