Mel B has addressed speculation the Spice Girls will embark on a 30th anniversary tour.
The iconic girl group burst onto the music scene in 1996 with their debut single, Wannabe.
The band, consisting of 49-year-old Mel, aka Scary Spice, alongside Emma Bunton, Melanie C, Geri Horner and Victoria Beckham, rocketed up the charts at a time when the music scene was dominated by male Brit-Pop acts like Oasis and Blur.
Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the group’s debut, and Mel is confident they will hit the road to mark the event.
She told Extra, „It’s the 30th anniversary of the Spice Girls Wannabe song next year. We’ve got a year to work on them. Let’s put it that way.“
Pressed for the likelihood of a full Spice Girls reunion tour happening, Mel replied, „Your guess is as good as mine right now. I’m always game. Always.“
The last time all five Spice Girls performed together was at the 2012 Olympics in London – and their last tour as a full band was in 2008.
While Mel, Melanie, Emma and Geri have all expressed interest in a reunion tour, Victoria is believed to be the one hampering a full reunion as she prefers working as a fashion designer rather than a performer.
Fans in the USA can see Mel back on screens as a judge on America’s Got Talent – and she explained that she has loved returning to the show after a seven year hiatus.
„All my kids are with me because they finally appreciate what I do. It’s a fun, family affair,“ she told Extra at a launch event over the weekend ahead of the new season which begins on Tuesday.
She added, „I think they’re more bothered about the craft services and the candy – and the talent in between. They’re really enjoying themselves.“
