It seems that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) could finally see the light of day soon, following the premiere of Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version) premiering in the latest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale yesterday (20 May).
The Taylor’s Version project exists for Taylor Swift to reclaim the rights to her discography after the masters for her first six albums were sold to Shamrock Holdings in November 2020. Swift has already re-recorded Speak Now, Fearless, Red, and 1989.
While it wasn’t the entire version of the track, over a two-minute-plus sequence, most of the song played during the opening to the penultimate episode of the series’ final season, and viewers caught verses and choruses of the reworked hit single.
Variety notes that an excerpt of the re-recorded song was previously played during the Prime Video series, Wilderness, in September 2023. For the first time, though, an uninterrupted, longer teaser of the song was heard this week.

Taylor Swift fans have been speculating that she’ll make a long-awaited announcement about Reputation (Taylor’s Version) at the upcoming American Music Awards. For Australian viewers, the event will take place on Tuesday, 27 May, at 10 am AEST.

At the time of publication, Taylor Swift’s online store has been updated to spell ‘AMAS’ via the first letters in a new menu: Apparel, Music, Accessories, and Sale.
If the AMAs end up being the place where Swift announces something new, it’ll follow a trend where, at the 2022 Video Music Awards, she announced the release of her world-dominating album Midnights, and while accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Swift announced the surprise album, The Tortured Poets Department.
In a new interview with Billboard, The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss revealed that she had been waiting years to use a Taylor Swift song on the series, and described the use of Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor’s Version) as “perfect.”
“I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show, and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I’m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment,” Moss said.
She continued, “Taylor has been such an inspiration to me personally. As a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for [co-star] Yvonne [Strahovski] and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties, it’s such an honour to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show.”
