Madon was one of 25 rising Australian and New Zealand artists chosen for our Future of Music 2025 list.
Rolling Stone AU/NZ Future of Music 2025 alumna Ayesha Madon has returned with her first single of the year.
Co-written with David Evans, Pat Byrne, and James Majoos, “Jenga” finds Madon pondering the childlike joy of best friendship.
“’Jenga’ was one of those songs that revealed itself in about 30 minutes,” the multi-hyphenate reveals. “I was writing it with two of my best friends James Majoos (who some people may know as ‘Darren’) and James’ partner Dave Evans (Oren) at golden hour in their living room. My other close friend Pat (Beso Palma) jumped in to produce it up, along with Dave.
“I love writing with my friends. It feels healing, personal and often yields my most honest lyricism. This song is about a friendship with someone I hold very dear and so it was only fitting to write this song with other people close to my heart.”
Madon’s new single precedes her performance at the opening night of VIVID Sydney Tumbalong Nights with Charley this Friday (May 23rd). More information about the event can be found here.

In an interview for our Future of Music series, Madon reflected on how 2024 was both a “mixed bag” and the “best year” for her.
“So many bucket list career things happened, like relaunching my artist project and making some music videos, to a handful of magazine covers I’ve always aspired to, to putting together my live show, to writing my EP in London, to shooting the final season of Heartbreak High,” she said.
“There was plenty to keep me busy, but what I’m most proud of is the way I navigated my mental health and pulled myself out of some pretty rough patches while meeting those professional commitments.”
She also looked with relish towards the future, telling us about some of her upcoming goals. “[…] maybe a bit of acting or directing if the right project presents itself and if my music schedule allows. Quite a bit of travel hopefully.”
Ayesha Madon’s “Jenga” is out now.
