African Pop Maverick and global hitmaker TRESOR has launched Jacquel Dance, a new division of his entertainment company Jacquel Entertainment Group, dedicated to crafting and exporting timeless African dance music to the world.
The announcement marks a defining moment for TRESOR as he approaches the 10-year anniversary of his critically acclaimed debut album VII, released in September 2015. Known for his genre-bending creativity and trailblazing collaborations, TRESOR now pays homage to the genre that has played a pivotal role in his journey: dance music.
“Dance music has soundtracked some of the most important milestones in my life and career—from the biggest global stages to some of my earliest memories in Congo,” shares TRESOR. “This new chapter is about celebrating that legacy, creating sonic unicorns, and building a label that moves the world, one beat at a time.”
Jacquel Dance will serve as a dynamic incubator for Africa’s most exciting producers, writers, and vocalists across genres—united by rhythm, energy, and timelessness. With a vision to run the label as a vibrant music start-up, TRESOR is focused on experimentation, collaboration, and delivering iconic anthems that transcend borders.
The launch coincides with another major win: the global licensing of his latest single Wale Wale—a soaring house anthem featuring Kenyan breakout star Sofiya Nzau—by Warner Music. The track, which blends African pop flair with the emotional pulse of global house music, has caught fire internationally. With its uplifting spirit and infectious beat, Wale Wale is primed to become a summer smash in Europe and beyond.
“This Warner Music partnership is just the beginning of how we plan to export African dance music globally and show the world what African dance music can do when given the platform,” says TRESOR.
TRESOR is no stranger to the global stage. In 2022, he co-wrote and produced six songs on Drake’s surprise dance album Honestly, Nevermind, lending his vocals and production brilliance to standout tracks like “Currents” and “Tie That Binds”. That collaboration earned him a debut at #15 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Songwriters list, placing him above some of the world’s most revered artists. Most recently, his work was spotlighted on Popcaan and Drake’s “We Caa Done” and cemented by a prestigious global publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing in the U.S..
