Wolf Alice premiered their new single, ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, on May 19th in Kilkenny, Ireland, during their first headline performance in more than two years.
The four-piece only announced the mini Irish tour last week. Following their visit to the 400-capacity Set Theatre in Kilkenny on May 19th, they will play at Cyprus Avenue, Cork, on May 20th, before concluding the run at Dolan’s Warehouse in Limerick on May 21st.
According to Setlist FM, in addition to playing ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ for the first time in Kilkenny, they treated the sold-out crowd to another unreleased track, ‘Thorns’.
Additionally, Wolf Alice’s set included their first performance of ‘Yuk Foo’ since 2019. The London group’s show also played fan favourites such as ‘Bros’, ‘Delicious Things’, ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’ and ‘Giant Peach’.
The Irish shows will act as a warm-up before Wolf Alice perform at Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Sefton Park in Liverpool this weekend. They will then play Primavera Sound in Barcelona next month ahead of Glastonbury Festival.
Later this year, Wolf Alice will embark on their first ever UK arena tour following the release of their new album The Clearing, set for release on August 29th.
During a new interview with Radio X following the release of ‘Bloom Baby Bloom‘, singer Ellie Rowsell said of the album: “I think you’ll maybe be surprised when you listen to the rest of the record in the context of ‘Bloom Baby Bloom.’ But yeah, a little bit of a taster, but don’t think there’s going to be a bunch more ‘Bloom Baby Blooms’.”
She also said of the personal nature of The Clearing: “I think it explores those themes. I like that you said it feels like a mantra, because I like the idea that of someone listening to it and feeling like that about themselves, yeah.”
