The new song is from the recent Hell’s Kitchen star’s forthcoming album.
Three-time Tony-nominated actor Brandon Victor Dixon, most recently seen as Davis in the Alicia Keys musical Hell’s Kitchen, has released a new video for his original song „Maybe.“ Listen to the R&B-inspired pop song in the video above.
Penned by the Broadway actor, „Maybe“ has a message of hope and resilience. States Dixon, „I wrote this song while reading James Baldwin’s The Fire Next Time with the intent to remind each other that we are cycling through the same conflicts repeatedly as a society. But maybe, just maybe, if we can recognize that fact, we can make things all right again.“
More singles are expected to follow leading up to the release of Dixon’s as-of-yet-untitled solo album later this year.
Dixon is also a Tony-winning producer for Moulin Rouge! The Musical and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Dixon’s other credits include Judas in NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar; Fox’s Rent: Live; Aaron Burr in Hamilton; Eubie Blake in Shuffle Along…; Harpo in The Color Purple; Berry Gordy, Jr. in Motown The Musical; Billy Flynn in Chicago; and Haywood Patterson in The Scottsboro Boys.
Dixon studied at the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, is a graduate of Columbia University, and a recipient of the university’s I.A.L Diamond Award for achievement in the Arts. For more information on his solo record, follow Dixon on socials.
