After six long years, Grand Rapids’ own La Dispute is back.
And they didn’t just quietly drop a new album announcement. Nope, they made it very local for their hometown fans.
In the video for their new song “I Shaved My Head,” frontman Jordan Dreyer's vocals follow along as a man takes a reflective walk through downtown Grand Rapids that locals will instantly recognize.
After waking up in a home of some sort, the actor in the video walks down the sidewalks of Division Avenue to a quick stop inside a neighborhood barbershop (Shout out Avenue Barber Shop) for a real haircut (yes, he actually gets his head shaved mid-video)
Afterwards, he walks around in some familiar downtown alleyways
You could say the band's return via music video is a love letter of sorts to the city that helped shape the band’s sound and spirit.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or just someone who loves seeing GR show up in unexpected places, the visuals feel like a familiar evening stroll through town, only with a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack playing in the background.
This moody, cinematic video comes alongside the surprise release of a new EP, and it kicks off a bigger rollout for their first full-length album since 2019. But for fans in here in Grand Rapids, the real headline might just be seeing their hometown streets take center stage yet again. (And we love to see the city, even in a gritty way)
