A brand-new festival is set to launch in Jordan this May, bringing music, art, and culture to two of the country’s most breathtaking locations—Petra and Wadi Rum.
Running from May 21 to 26, 2025, the first-ever Medaina Festival will showcase a global lineup of top electronic music artists. Names on the bill include Âme, Bedouin, Mind Against, Ben Sterling, HVOB, Patrice Bäumel, Jimi Jules, Sonja Moonear, Aline Umber, and Rolbac, with performances set across the stunning desert and ancient landmarks.
What sets the Medaina festival apart is its immersive format. The experience promises to deliver an immersive itinerary that includes cultural exploration, regional cuisine, wellness activities, and guided tours through some of the most storied locations in the Middle East. From ancient temples and archaeological wonders to expansive deserts, attendees will engage thoroughly with Jordan’s history.
At the heart of the festival is Petra, the UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World, known for its rose-red rock facades and monumental tombs carved directly into the cliffs. It’s a destination that draws millions each year, but few get to experience it through the lens of sound, art, and storytelling like this. From Petra, the journey continues to Wadi Rum, a desert landscape known for its red dunes, towering rock formations, and centuries-old Bedouin culture.
Organised by Tithorea, the team behind acclaimed boutique festivals like Labryinto in Costa Rica and Echoes from Agartha in Turkey, Medaina aims to offer a thoughtfully curated escape. “This has been four years in the making,” says Shahin Mani, co-founder of Tithorea. “We’ve worked closely with the local community and authorities to make sure we honor the cultural and spiritual importance of these locations.”
Backed by the Jordan Tourism Board, Medaina also prioritizes sustainability and responsible tourism. With a limited capacity and a deep focus on preserving the natural and historical integrity of the region, the event invites attendees to experience Jordan in a completely new way.
This festival joins the ranks of internationally renowned cultural events like Cercle, Magnetic Fields, and Al Ula, each offering extraordinary music experiences in historic settings.
Much like Cercle, which brings electronic music to extraordinary locations worldwide, and Magnetic Fields, celebrated for celebrating art, culture, and music in Rajasthan’s Aravalli hills, Medaina provides a deep dive into Jordan’s history.
