Montgomery has carried on Montgomery Gentry since the duo’s other member, Troy Gentry, died in a 2017 helicopter crash.
Montgomery recently released „Home Run,“ a six-song EP that
includes new songs and a reworking of Montgomery Gentry’s first single, “Hillbilly Shoes.”
Montgomery Gentry, best known for its 2005 platinum No. 1 hit „Something to Be Proud Of,“ hit platinum and Top 10 on the Country chart with its 1999 debut album „Tattoos & Scars.“
It had three Top 20 Country chart songs from that disc.
In 2000, it won both the Academy of Country music’s Top New Vocal Duo or Group and the Country Music Association’s Vocal Duo of the Year.
Over the next 20 years, the duo released 10 more albums, with 2001’s „Carrying On“ hitting gold and 2002’s „My Town“ and 2004’s „You Do Your Thing“ hitting platinum.
The 2005 compilation album „Something to Be Proud Of: The Best of 1999-2005“ also hit gold.
Its last album of new material was 2019’s „Outskirts.“
In all, the duo had five gold and platinum hits: 2002’s „My Town,“ 2003’s „Hell Yeah,“ 2004’s „Gone“ 2011’s „Where I Came From“ and „Something to be Proud Of.“
It had 21 Top 30 Country hits, five of which reached No. 1, which also included „If You Ever Stop Loving Me,“ „Lucky Man,“ „Roll With Me“ and „Back When I Knew it All.“

Montgomery said in a release he has no intention of stopping the duo’s career, despite missing Gentry.
“I’m livin’ life,” Montgomery said. “I’m so happy that I gotta sit on my hands to keep ‘em from wavin’ at everybody.
“I’m keepin’ it going, I’m keepin’ my promise. A day don’t go by I don’t talk about him. A day don’t go by I don’t miss him.”
Montgomery Gentry performed at the 2002 Allentown Fair as the special guest for Toby Keith and at the 2000 Fair as the special guest for Alan Jackson.
