Yuval Raphael is now making her First Rehearsal. The Israel representative competes with the song “New Day Will Rise”, written by Keren Peles.
Yuval Raphael will perform in the Second Semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest on the 15th of May.
Yuval Raphael hails from Ra’anana, near Tel Aviv. She launched her professional singing career in 2024 on the TV talent show HaKokhav HaBa, captivating audiences with her voice to winning the final.
Although her career began recently, Yuval has always dreamed of becoming a singer, with a passion for soul and R&B. Growing up, she was inspired by classic rock bands like Led Zeppelin and Scorpions, as well as legendary vocalists such as Beyoncé and Céline Dion.
At the centre of the stage stands a GIANT prop—the largest we’ve seen this year—a two-tier circular structure about five metres high with a curved staircase on one side. The top tier is slightly smaller than the bottom, and each ring is wrapped in a glittering curtain of silver strands. Picture a modern twist on a vintage birdcage or a climbable chandelier—it’s not entirely either, but that should give you an idea until you can see photos.
Yuval begins her performance amid blue shadows on the frame stage, dressed in a tailored black trouser suit with square shoulders and flowing flamenco sleeves. In the second verse, she walks down the walkway, and a beautiful single-camera shot captures her circling the prop while singing the French section. She then climbs the stairs to perform the Hebrew verse and the rest of the song from a platform in the top tier. Up close, the cage is revealed to be constructed from individual crystal strands, much like a chandelier. At one moment, she lifts her arms in a way that makes her sleeves resemble wings, reinforcing that birdcage image. Meanwhile, the LED wall displays flowing water over black rocks, intensifying during the final chorus until the set fades to white for soft piano notes, culminating in a burst of fireworks at the key change.
Israel’s second rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday, May 9. Further details on their final staging are expected.
